About Us

Ensemble Musica Amici was founded in 2019 in Basel, Switzerland. Members originate from Canada, Spain, France, South-Korea and Japan, and met through the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
“Musica Amici”, meaning “Music Friend”, stands for the ensemble’s strong connection and honest approach to music. Playing on period instruments, they present a vast repertoire from various eras with an historically informed perspective. Their performances are inspired, infused with energy, and profound.
Ensemble members have won numerous international competitions as soloists and have performed as part of ensembles from around the world, including the Freiburger Barockorchester, Juilliard415, Pacific Music Festival Orchestra, and Bach Collegium Japan. Several of them are currently students of Amandine Beyer and Christophe Coin.
The ensemble values music, people, and the heart of each individual. Its aim is to communicate a love for music by connecting deeply with its audience, going beyond interpretation, and having a positive impact on the world around them.
The ensemble has appeared as part of the Freunde Alter Musik Basel concert series in 2020 with repertoire including works from Nicola Fiorenza, Nicola Matteis and Luigi Boccherini.
